Contest participants are being invited to take scenic photos of the rivers, streams and lakes that sustain the preserves and their flora and fauna.
Participating in the contest is easy. Just grab your camera and take photos of waterways located in Will County forest preserves. (Photos taken in municipal parks or state or federal natural areas are not eligible.)
The photo contest will run from January 28 through March 11, which is the same six-week period that “Water|Ways” will be on exhibit at Four Rivers.
Judges will review all Wonders of Water photo submissions to select their favorites, which will then be submitted for online voting via the District’s Facebook page. Contest participants who submit the top three photos will win their choice of a Forest Preserve dog park permit, a picnic permit or a boat rental at Monee Reservoir. (Some restrictions apply.)
All participants will receive a gift for submitting photos.
Photos must be taken by amateur photographers who are 18 years old or older.
The photo contest is designed to complement the “Water|Ways” exhibit experience.
The exhibit, which explores the significance of water in the human experience, is part of Museum on Mainstreet, a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and Illinois Humanities, and was adapted from an exhibition organized by the American Museum of Natural History, New York.
