Mark your calendars for one of the Forest Preserve's most popular events!
Embrace the coming winter and plan to join us at Monee Reservoir
for "Musher Mania," featuring dog sled demonstrations and much more. This annual program will be held Saturday, January 14, from noon-4 p.m., free of charge.
The Siberian Husky Club of Greater Chicago will bring out its fully trained sled dogs to provide demonstrations of "mushing," or dog sled racing.
Other winter activities will be ongoing throughout the afternoon, including a "Great Race to Nome" activity, ice sculpting demonstrations, a human mushing challenge, panning for gold, photos with a husky, and an outdoor campfire for roasting marshmallows and for chasing the chill away.
A warming tent also will be on site to thaw out chilled fingers and toes, and food will be available for purchase.
The event is held with or without snow, so plan on coming out to hear the call of the wild at Monee Reservoir.
For the safety of all, please leave your own dogs at home.
All activities are held outside on uneven and possibly snow-covered ground.Photo by Joel Craig
