Treat Fido to a fun day outside during the Forest Preserve District's canine Easter egg hunt!

Shorewood HUGS, a local nonprofit women's organization that fulfills wishes in the area and also supports other charitable organizations, is once again partnering with the Forest Preserve District to present the "Hugs for Hounds Easter Egg Hunt." At this event, dogs will search for Easter eggs filled with treats or prizes.

The entry fee proceeds will be donated toward the care, handling, and training of the Forest Preserve's K9 officer, Jullo.

Be sure to bring a basket to collect your Easter eggs. The event will last until all of the eggs are found.

Bring your dollars for a special Easter basket drawing. Tickets for the drawing are $1 each or 6 for $5. A variety of awards also will be given, including one for best Easter outfit. Dogs must be leashed and accompanied by owners at all times.

Dog park permits are not required to participate, but permits will be available for purchase. Rabies tag information (number and expiration date) must be provided and up-to-date, and a driver's license and license plate number are also required to purchase a permit. Those wishing to purchase a permit are encouraged to download a Dog Park Permit Application, fill it out completely, and bring it to the event. Learn more about dog park permits and fees.
