Rock Run trail section, access area closed for improvements

An image indicating a closure

The parking lot at Rock Run Preserve – Paul V. Nichols Access on Essington Road in Joliet and a portion of the Rock Run Greenway Trail are closed for an improvement project to repave and realign the trail.

The closure is expected to last several months.

The Rock Run Greenway Trail section that is closed stretches west of the trail bridge near Paul V. Nichols access and south toward Black Road. Blind spots on the path will be corrected during the project and a boardwalk will be installed.

Barricades and signs are in place alerting path users to the closures. Trail users should obey the signs and not use the access area or path section during this time.

Rock Run Preserve – Black Road Access and the remainder of the Rock Run Greenway Trail will remain open to the public during this time.

Updates will be posted here as necessary.
