The 158-acre Thorn Grove Preserve was acquired between 1991 and 2013.
The preserve is part of the Thorn Creek preservation system, which conserves approximately 1,600 acres.

Thorn Grove Preserve protects a diversity of habitats, including forest, prairie, wetland and a portion of Thorn Creek.
The preserve is home to a variety of plant species, including oaks, northern gooseberry and spinulose shield fern.
The site is managed with habitat restoration to protect and enhance its natural resources.
