Event details

Did you know not all animals hibernate in winter? Celebrate National Take a Hike Day by taking a hike around Lake Renwick Preserve to find out who’s hibernating and who’s not. We’ll look for signs of animals, find out how animals survive cold temperatures and challenge ourselves to see if our winter abilities are as good as a squirrel’s.

Event requirements

Registration required by Friday, Nov. 15: 815-727-8700.

REGISTER ONLINE

Dress for the weather as the entire program will be outdoors. Meet at the Turtle Lake Shelter.

The hike will be about 1.5 miles on a paved trail. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this program should mention their request when registering, or submit a request on-line no later than 48 hours before the program.
