Event details

Are you eager to support the Forest Preserve while getting a rewarding workout? Or perhaps you’re passionate about enhancing the beauty of a local preserve and reducing maintenance needs for native plant landscaping? Whatever your motivation, we invite you to lend a hand as we host a special volunteer event to spread wood chips around Isle a la Cache Museum.

Your efforts will help improve the landscape and support the District's mission. Come make a difference and enjoy a day of community spirit and outdoor activity!

Two shifts will be offered:

  • 8 to 11 a.m.
  • 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Event requirements

Space is limited; registration is required. To get started, complete this waiver. For information, contact Emily Kenny at 815-722-7364 or [email protected].

Please wear clothes appropriate for the weather and getting dirty. Chips will be spread around the entire property. Long pants, sturdy shoes and socks covering the ankles are highly recommended. Bringing water, gloves and snacks is recommended.

Work will take place on uneven terrain that is primarily a natural surface. The paved sidewalks may be used to move chips around the property. Anyone who requires an auxiliary aid or service to participate in this workday should mention their request when registering, or submit a request online no later than 48 hours before the workday.
